Vicki has been a professional photographer since 2003. Before becoming a pro, she and her husband owned their own graphic design company. She has created a name for herself within the industry as the photographer that helps the newcomers.

She has been designing items for her clients for several years now, however, only recently decided to offer her work to the masses. She opened her Etsy shop in November of this year and is constantly adding new designs.

Business Basics started in August of 2007 as the Foundations Program to help anyone learn the basics of photography. It quickly became a popular program with hundreds of students across the globe. Many of the students wanted more information about starting and marketing a photography business, which was not offered in the original Foundations program. Therefore, Business Basics, or BBP, was formed. BBP is available to anyone, not just someone wishing to become a professional photographer. Many of the students are people that simply wish to take better photos of their loved ones. -

"I am first and foremost a mother of three, and a happy wife. My "side" job is that of freelance illustrator, designer, professor and author. Typically I freelance for national and international companies. I love being an illustrator, not every knowing what my next assignment will be. Some of my clients have been: Target, HGTV, New York Magazine, The Baltimore Sun, American Greetings and more. From illustrating children's books, greeting cards, comic books, animated commercials, character development, stationary, editorial work and more, there is great variety in what I do.

I started UUPP (Unique Uplifting Positive Prints) for a very special reason however. We all go through times of peace and times of difficulty. At some point we each have to face challenging periods in our lives. Over the last few years during some really difficult times I relied on my faith, uplifting messages and positive people to see me through. I still am relying on those things. Being grateful on a daily basis is vital for me. Sometimes too when we are tending to the needs of others, we forget about our needs. For awhile I forgot about feeding my creative self.

This is why I created the work in UUPP. I am absolutely loving creating the pieces in UUPP. It is full of inspiring messages of hope, love, laughter, faith, gratitude and peace. All the categories and the new work to come are the great loves in my life. From cooking (I love love Julia Child) to the escape my garden gives me, to watching great movies and reading great books (I admit I am a Jane Austin addict), to the importance of family, to always being a good friend to others and remaining strong in my faith no matter what. I love using textures from vintage papers and fabric, combining that with hand drawn typography and illustrations. Every time I sit down to create a new piece, I am in absolute bliss. I hope you enjoy."

"GalsandGirls has been a project in the making. Ever since I had my 2 girls I have LOVED creating girly things for them.... everything from bows to tutus, I've just had to learn to do it all. Unique things are my most favorite, and since everyone knew how to make bows and tutus, I wanted to expand my creativity.

Now let me tell you the REAL reason why: a little secret that I hold is I am deathly afraid of being alone at night. Especially with my kids!! I have always been a scaredy cat ever since I was a child, so when my husband got put on shift work and it called him to work 7 nights a month, I NEEDED something to make me tired enough to go to bed by 1 or 2 AM :)

So I chose crochet... something about the hand-made look of crochet got me "hooked" (no pun intented :) Not many knew how to do that where I live, not many had the time, and it was something productive I could do while I was all by myself. So I bought a "how to crochet" beginning book and when I had any questions I would ask my mother or mother-in-law.

In just a short year I created different unique patterns and started giving them as gifts. I was so shocked with the response and calls of people wanting to order to give as gifts for baby showers, birthdays, Christmas, wear to sport their favorite teams, photography props...etc. So I decided to get my etsy site up and running where they can order from.... in the midst of all this, I had a sweet little baby boy!! So in turn I definitely had to throw in a few things that he could sport.

I also enjoy being challenged by creating your ideas.... send me a picture of what you would like, and I will recreate it with my own style. Enjoy!!"

“I'm Sarah, wife to a wonderful husband and mom to one little rambunctious boy. We recently moved to East Michigan and have enjoyed all the new experiences and way of life this move has brought us. I used to be a Clinical Laboratory Scientist (in my "other" life, before kids). I gave up all the glamour and prestige of working long hours, double shifts, holidays and weekends at the hospital to work long hours, double shifts, holidays and weekends at home with my little guy. I love my job and feel incredibly lucky to be home with my son everyday.

Aside from my family, my first love is music. I am an avid singer and performer, novice song writer, and can plunk a few notes on the piano. I started piano lessons at the ripe old age of 3, and though I never became a concert pianist (sorry mom) music became my way of expressing creativity. As I grew, my creative outlets also grew to include dance, scrapbooking, cake decorating, digital scrapbooking, photography, sewing, and blogging.

Now, I have found another new hobby to enjoy; creating jewelry! I have had so much fun creating and designing watch bands and bracelets. It has been a pleasure for me to experiment with different materials and colors to create beautiful pieces that can be worn again and again. I hope you will enjoy wearing your watch bands as much as I have enjoyed creating them.”

I called Tyson into the room and asked him who he thought this picture was of...he said to me..."Dude, that looks just like us!" I think she did such a great job!

What I Like Wednesday - Digiscrapping!

So, I have to preface this by saying, I've never been much of a scrapbooker. I don't like the mess of it, I'm not original (I need to copy other people's ideas, step by step) and I just never developed a liking for it. Last fall, my friend Kate invited me to go to a workshop that her friend was putting on. I wasn't able to go, but when Kate told me she was doing another one on Memorial Day, I was so excited to go! So, we got all signed up and headed out that morning for Vegas. We pulled up to the house and this is what it looked like...

(I stole all these pics from Shondell. I'm lame and even if I would have thought to bring my camera, we all know the battery would have been dead anyways.)

Um, can you say crazy gorgeous!? Loved it. They had this amazing staircase when you walked in, crazy!

So, we get settled in the basement and start setting up our computers. We look behind us and see these huge floor to ceiling windows, but it's dark on the other side. After awhile we notice it's lit up and this is what was on the other side of the window...

Of course I had to snap a pic to send to Tyson! How awesome would it be to have that in your house!? My boys would be in heaven. Poor Tyson goes outside when it's over 100 degrees to play basketball at our house, this would come in quite handy! They also had this enclosed slide that went from the family room upstairs, down to the basement. We were so tempted to try it out, I'm not sure why no one did! So, on to the digital scrapping... Alisha taught us so much great stuff! Some stuff I caught onto fairly quickly, other stuff...not so much! We had catered lunch from Macayos and it was fabulous! So good. We finished up the afternoon with more amazing info. I had never even attempted to use photoshop before this and now at least felt like I could get started on some projects. Shondell brought bundt cakes from her company A Better Bundt that were so good! She had lemon poppy and chocolate and they were both so good! If you're in the St. George area and have a need for cakes, definitely check her out! Delicious!

So, we wrapped up the day and got ready to come home. Shondell got some pictures of us in action...what I want to know is why do Becky (on the left, she's the cute host that let us take over her house for the day) and Brigit look so cute and smiley...

and Kate and I look, well, special...

lol. Oh well. We did get a group shot before we left (a few had already had to leave) in front of their adorable playhouse in the basement. So cute with the shutters and flower boxes and tiny door!

So, here are a few things I've made since the class! Towards the end of the day we worked on these recipe cards that you format at a 4 x 6 size and then print out. I was beyond frustrated by that time (I think it was that I hadn't had a diet coke all day ;) so I waited and started mine the next day.

I also did this Chicken Alfredo card, but I think I want to go in and put something other than black so it's a bit easier to read. For now, it will do...

I also made this header for my SIL Tonia's craft blog.

So, as I have more time, I'll mess around with it more. I'm getting a new camera soon so hopefully I'll have more pictures to do stuff with! I still haven't attempted to scrap anything with an actual image! Oh, I do have to show these adorable nametags that Alisha made for each of us to wear for the workshop.

I've known Lark for what seems like forever, I'm really not even sure how many years. She has a daughter that's the same age as my oldest son. I have been married for 13 yrs. this August. We have an 11 yr. old daughter. I am a Licensed Manicurist, as well as a Baker. I Love to hang with my Family & Friends. I love to run, I have found I really enjoy this form of exercise. Marathon's are a new "love" in my life. My personal goal is to do 10 running (marathons) event's in 2010. So far I am half way to that goal! One of the BIG run's I have planned to do this year is the Susan G. Komen 3-Day Race for the Cure.
Where we will run 20 miles for three days straight. Yup, 60 miles in 3 days!
This is a HUGE fund raising event.
To even participate in it, I need to raise $2300.00. So please ANY amount Donated WILL help.

What I Like Wednesday - Girls Night Out!

Well, technically this time it's gonna be girls afternoon out, but you get the idea! We're heading out today to see this...

Can't wait! It's always a fun time when we get to go out with the girls. We're hitting the 1:30 show. We always try to plan so that we can have popcorn at the movie, and still do a full meal at our fav mexican restaurant afterwards!

The last one we went to was this...

it was alright...I haven't watched it since and I probably wouldn't have liked it if it didn't have Channing Tatum in it. ;)

One of the best we've seen for girls night out was this...

LOVED it! So hilarious. But then again, I ♥ Ryan Reynolds.

Another couple of fun girls night outs we've done is...

I'm not a huge fan of her music, but her show was actually really good. Plus, again, good food and good company didn't hurt!

We also saw this a couple years ago...

It was pretty good as far as concerts go (I'm not a huge fan of them) but I had a horrible headache and felt like I might vomit/die the whole time! I wanted to kill every person in there who screamed for "One more song!" lol. But again, the company was worth it!

What I Like Wednesdays - Toy Story!

So, for Father's Day yesterday, we took a family outing to see this...

We are major Toy Story lovers at this house. Tyson and Ryan developed a love for Buzz and Woody at a very young age. We had several talking Woodys, Buzz Lightyears, Bullseyes, etc at our house. They had to each have one, and we would have to write their name on the bottom of the boot, just like Andy had his...

so there was no way to blame if one was lost, you always knew which one it was! In fact, Ryan found one at Grandma's house a few months ago and after some fresh batteries, he works like a champ. For the record, it has Tyson's name on the boot. ;)

We had Woody "costumes" that Tyson insisted on wearing even in 100 + degree weather...

Buzz and "Slinky" halloween costumes...(Slink was actually just a cute little puppy costume from Old Navy, but they thought it was perfect!)

Tyson even sported a Buzz and Woody shirt on his first day of preschool!

And the real test, even now, after all these years, they were still super excited to see their old pal Woody when we were at California Adventure this past spring!

Needless to say, we all loved it! There is a part in the movie where Andy's mom is thinking back to when he was little and would play with all the toys. It kinda made me at bit misty eyed, me of all people!

The kids for sure grow up way too fast.

What I Like Wednesday - SYTYCD!

So, if you are a fan of this show, you probably know what those letters stand for, if not, you need to find out! I can't express how much I love love love So You Think You Can Dance! It's such a great show! I'm always trying to encourage (alright, maybe I try to force ;) people to become fans! I really do love it that much! I did recently convert my SIL Tonia and so now I have someone that is willing to text back and forth with me about it! I mean, I know several other people that watch it, but she's always willing to discuss favorites, etc.

Lauren is my fav this year! I might even dare say she is my favorite girl to ever be on there and I've loved alot of the girls! She's got an adorable personality and she's such an amazing dancer! Not to mention that body, are you kidding me!? I had to text Tonia about it right away! Once Jeremy got home, I had to make him check it out too! Yes, I'm one of those weirdos that instead of getting jealous if my hubby looks at a girl with a hot bod, I'm the one pointing her out to him! :)

Here's the video of her Vegas audition. I especially love this video because I also have a soft spot in my heart for Tyce Diorio. Does he not have the cutest facial expressions!?

Is she not amazing!?

My favorite guy of the season is Jose. He reminds me alot of Legacy, who I also loved. I can see him going a long way in this competition!

I also love that the past few seasons they have had Travis Wall back to choreograph! I loved him on his season and he's always been one of my favorite guys to ever be on this show! How can you not like him? He's so flippin cute! The routines he choreographs are always a hit with me! Here are a couple of my favorites from Travis' season!

I loved this final solo from him, might have a little to do with the fact that I love Something Corporate too.

P.S. I also have a moderate to extra large crush on Lil C. He's just so darn cute!

Comfie Country Crafts!

She recently made a super cute watermelon dress for my cute niece Kaia for her upcoming 2nd birthday! Her birthday is watermelon themed so of course the guest of honor needed a fabulous coordinating dress for the big day. The only way this could be cuter is if it was a picture of sweet Kaia wearing it!

She also made these adorable crochet cupcakes for my other niece Jaylee's cupcake themed 1st birthday party! So adorable.

She recently opened up an etsy store and has some cute things available! She makes these cute little Crayon Cozy's. Wish I would have had one when my boys were little, would have come in quite handy. I'm pretty sure I took their crayons to church in a little tupperware container!

She also makes these fabulous puff quilts!

I've been lucky enough to receive one for each of my boys when they were born! I'm pretty sure the one she made for my oldest son Tyson is the first puff quilt she ever made! I love them and have them both stored away for safekeeping!

She has a lot of other cute items in her shop ranging from little girls' aprons to pendants to embellished notebooks! Also, remember those cute cupcakes I mentioned earlier? They work great as a pincushion and she has them available for sale in her shop as well!

I was seriously tempted to just let her know what had happened and buy her a little scentsy prize myself, then use random.org to choose another number, but I didn't feel that would be right. She recently started a new blog that I wanted to bring attention to.

She started this journey to better herself. I give her so much credit for being brave enough to do it, I know I couldn't! Here is the innagural post to explain a little more what it's about! What I think is most amazing is that at the end of the month, instead of just being proud of the money she's saved or how she's changed or bettered herself, she's going to be donating to charity! This was the first real post that I remember really grabbing me...Who doesn't want the look of designer jeans on the cheap! I know I do!

I love anything paisley so this project was for sure a winner in my eyes!

When my boys were younger, I struggled so much with finding stuff that I felt was "cool" enough for them to wear! She has TONS of ideas for some awesome things you can make your boys!

About a year ago or so I somehow found this great blog.

At the time I was amazed by her fabulous creations, she has so many adorable things listed in her

etsy shop, you can find all the info here on her site.

I just recently found her featured on ucreate and saw that she has hair tutorials! There are so many different ones to choose from! It's almost making me wish that my hair was a little shorter so I could easily pull some of these off! This one is my absolute favorite one she has on there, so cute!

1. Do you have any siblings?

Yes, I have 3 sisters. Sam is 35 and the oldest, I'm 30 and I have younger sisters that are twins, Jess and Jamie that are about to turn 25.

2. Do you have any children?

Two boys! Tyson is 11 and Ryan is 9.

3. Are you a morning or night person?

I usually like to say middle afternoon person, but if I had to pick, I'd probably say morning. I usually have an easier time waking up early than I do staying up late. I get really mean when I'm too tired.

4.Are you organized or spontaneous?

I'd say organized. I get a little freaked out when there isn't a "plan".

5. What is your typical 4th of July like? Laid back at home? Community celebrations? etc...?

We live in a small community that we both grew up in, so we do stuff all day at the park. We go to the parade first thing, then to the booths. This year I got roped into doing the little kids races, so once that's over I'll head to the gym to play in a volleyball tournament. Jeremy will sometimes do the 3 point contest and then we usually rest at home for a bit. Sometimes we eat dinner at my mom's house, sometimes at the park, just depends. Then Jeremy will go do the home run contest. Just about the time that ends, we head to the park to visit with friends and wait for the fireworks!

What I Like Wednesday - Photography!

Now, I do have to preface this by saying I personally, know nothing about photography! I hardly take any pictures (I'm trying to become better about that) but I do love to browse photography blogs.

I wanted to post a few of my favorites for you to check out.

First off, Jen Herem Photography

I first met Jen on a message board (I know, I seem to put that in every post!) a few years ago. I watched her start up this photography business that has taken off like a rocket! I love her style and she does so many fun things. She's very creative in so many ways. She started doing boudoir sessions earlier this year and they turned out so great! Very tasteful and classy, what a great gift idea for your hubby. (If you're brave enough...which I'm not :) She's recently started doing weddings as well and she does such an amazing job! She did this birth story for her nephew when her sister was giving birth, loved it! How awesome to have something like that captured in such an amazing way!

Second, Alisha Shaw of One Memory at a Time Photography

Alisha is a friend of a friend. I've had my eye on her blog for awhile now and yesterday I had the pleasure of attending a 1 day digi scrap workshop that she was teaching. Loved it! She taught us so many fun things. I can't say I can open up photoshop right away and whip out some amazing layouts just yet, but she gave us the tools we needed to get started! This recent bridal shoot she did is so amazing! Gorgeous bride, gorgeous photos, gorgeous colors and probably the most fabulous shoes I've ever seen! Loved it! I love the urban feel to this family shoot she did. So great. Someone asked yesterday if she could show us how to "slim ourselves down" and she told us the most amazing story. She talked about how so many women put off family photos "til I lose 10 lbs" etc, (come on, you know you all do!) and how important it is to capture who you are now, because you are beautiful no matter what. She stressed the importance of capturing the memory for our children and loved ones regardless of our size, because that might be the last picture they have of us. It was such a great experience learning from her yesterday!

Third, Lynette Thiriot of Photography By Lynette

I've known Lynette since we were kids! We grew up here together in this small town that I still call home. She's just started her business a little over a year ago and she does a great job! She did our family pictures this past October and I loved them! This past spring, she did a maternity shoot for our good friend who was about to have her baby. Turned out so cute! I loved how this family shoot turned out too! Also, Lynette has offered to do a giveaway for a mini session on See it! Love it! Win it! next month! Be sure to stay tuned for that!

1. What are some of your pet peeves?

Guys with long fingernails, when the inside of a vehicle is dirty/cluttered, people who let the door slam in your face instead of holding it open for you, people who are constantly pitying themselves...there are plenty more but I'll stop there.

2. Do you have a favorite or lucky number?

13 baby! When I was pregnant with Ryan, the Dr and I were looking at the calendar to choose a date for the c section. I told her I preferred a Tuesday, so I would be released Friday and Jeremy would be off work for the weekend. She suggested Tues, March 13th, but then said how all her patients usually steer clear of the 13th. I told her I loved the number so we went with it. Dumb little story, but I figured why not tell it!?

3. What is one of your family traditions?

I can't think of any original ones off the top of my head other than new PJ's on Christmas Eve, etc.

4. Is there anything you are OC about?

What am I not obsessive about!? I'm obsessive about how the laundry is done in general, I'm obsessive about how the dishwasher is loaded, how the bathroom is cleaned...

5. What is your favorite kind of food?

I'd probably say pizza or nachos. I could eat them everyday!
